Precocious puberty occurs when a child's body starts transitioning into an adult one too early (puberty). Precocious puberty refers to the onset of puberty in girls before the age of eight and in boys before the age of nine. Puberty comprises the development of the body's reproductive system, rapid growth of the bones and muscles, and changes in body size and structure. Precocious puberty frequently has no known reason. Precocious puberty can occasionally be brought on by illnesses like infections, hormonal imbalances, tumors, anomalies of the brain, or accidents. Medication is frequently used as part of treatment for premature puberty in order to halt additional growth. Knowing the origins of puberty can help explain why certain kids experience precocious puberty. The process is started by the brain producing the hormone known as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). This hormone causes the pituitary gland, a little bean-shaped gland at the base of the brain, to produce more testosterone and estrogen, which are hormones that are produced in the testicles of males and the ovaries of females, respectively.
